A few days ago, NASA briefed the White house on plans to make a major announcement to the public on a discovery made by the Phoenix Lander on Mars.
Since Phoenix already found that you could grow asparagus on Martian soil, and just recently found evidence of water, Rumors have been rampant that NASA may have actually found life on Mars.
Unfortunately, it seems this may not be the case after all. Further analysis of Martian soil have found that it’s full of a chemically reactive salt called perchlorate. We have the same type of salt here - a manmade contaminant that serves as the solid rocked fuel found in fireworks.
So life on Mars? Getting more and more unlikely. Unless ancient martians liked fireworks. NASA is still double checking the results, as not all of Phoenix’s instruments detected the chemical in the soil.
