Well yesterday i downloaded Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 from XboxLive and like its predecessor Geometry Wars Retro Evolved, the game is solidly built and handles and plays extremely well and as always its addictive. The game features six game modes Deadline, King, Evolved, Pacifism, Waves, and last but not least Sequence.
In Deadline you have to get as much points as you can in three minutes with unlimited lives, but every time you die you lose your multiplier equaling to less points per kill.
In King you have only one life and no bombs. Circular safety zones appear randomly game space. Enemies and Geoms cannot enter these zones, and the player can only fire while inside one. The zone shrinks and disappears a short time after it is entered, forcing the player to move from zone to zone.
In Evolved you’re back to square one, this plays just like the older Geometry Wars games but for some reason they have taken out gun upgrade (at least up 10,000,000. which is all i can get to) so that makes the game much harder than the older versions.
In Pacifism you have only one life and cannot shoot… at all, the only thing you can do is fly through dumbbell looking gates (—-) to kill the blue squares and while your at it you should try to go around in a square circle, twice around the border of the map to get two achievements (Wax On, Wax Off).
In Waves you have one life and must avoid and destroy waves of rockets that fly horizontally and vertically from the edges of the game space. after 240,000 points some normal enemies start to appear on the map to make things harder but this time the stand nearly still so you can hit them while trying to run away from waves of yellow/orange spaceships.
In Sequence you must finish twenty levels, each with a predetermined pattern of enemies. You have thirty seconds to destroy all of the enemies in each level. If the player loses a life, they are taken directly to the next level, but the game ends if the player loses all of their lives.
All in All the game is suprb and deserves a 8/10
