Just Jared has obtained the first pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal in the role of Dastan for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie, an upcoming film based on the 2003 video game of the same name. Directed by Mike Newell, the film also stars Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, and Alfred Molina. Filming is taking place in the U.K. and Morocco.

Gearbox president Randy Pitchford told Eurogamer that there will be demos of Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway at some point. The company is just evaluating the best time to release a demo because of the ‘do it now and the game takes longer’ dilemma.

“We are 100 per cent certain there will be a demo for Xbox 360, 99 per cent certain there will be a demo for PS3, and about 50 per cent certain there will be a demo for PC,” said Pitchford. “I’m still not certain exactly when the best time to release the demo will be - there are two camps. One camp believes we should continue to focus 100 per cent of our attention on the few remaining issues.”

Pioneer has introduced a sixteen-layer Blu-ray Disc capable of storing 400GB of data, as of July 13, it was shown at the International Symposium on Optical Memory and Optical Data Storage 2008 (ISOM/ODS2008). This holds eight times more data than the current dual-layer 50GB version currently in use on the majority of high-def movies, and double the space of Hitachi’s last eight-layer Blu-ray.

The disc is currently read-only, but Pioneer says it is backwards compatible with existing Blu-ray players on the market.

A new disc structure was developed to reduce crosstalk from adjoining layers, making it able to access all sixteen layers at full bandwidth. Each layer contains the standard 25GB currently available with Blu-ray Disc.

Now to the nice stuff, the price, well just think of it as buying 3 playstation 3’s the Disc is to expansive for the public at this time and there is really no need for it unless you need to move a server’s worth of data from one to another.

I wouldn’t necessarily call this a hack, it more or less seems like Sony’s intention; nonetheless, quite the discovery courtesy of silenoz… Using the BD-J (Blu-ray Disc Java) platform we’re able to launch Java games direct from the XMB. Case in point: Blaster Bunny.

Its seem that NOT a single game is being patched by ANY developer and as i was reading on Civ Rev forums i stumbled on a reply by a Civ Rev team member stating that:

 ”Hey guys,
Civilization Revolution will not support trophies. When we designed the game, before trophies were out, we did not plan on supporting the upcoming feature, and we are not going to add it.” - 2K Elizabeth

Well the funny thing is that Microsoft forces any and ALL game developers to have at least 950 achievements in any disc-based game and 200 per arcade game, where as Sony only tells developers that there is a achievement system… Hmm “Trophy System” on the new playstation 3 FW update and if they have the time to add, few simple line of codes and make 4 different images “Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum” for the Trophy system so that PSN users can say they did something. But since SONY is not updating there VERY OWN games “RFOM2, F1 CE, GT5P, etc..” its kinda of hard for any 3rd party developer to care enough make a patch for their games.

So thank you Sony for the  “Trophy System” but until you ENFORCE IT on any and ALL games new, or OLD games, it should not exist, oh and don’t forget NOT A SINGLE GAME SUPPORTS “IN-GAME MUSIC”, the only thing that has a User Track system on PS3 is SSHD which had it before the update. So don’t hang on to your hard earned gold and medals in Uncharted because foreseeable future, is only a foreseeable future away.

Well, when they announced that Soul Calibur IV was going to have new hidden characters, and that there identities would be revealed, Soon! I was really hoping for V

But no dice, and as the game is getting close to its release, it seems likely that he will apear in a video game, and since he is not a DC-U character there is 0 chance of him being in MK Vs DC.

So here’s to hoping that SC5 will include V or SCIV will have V as a DLC….
