Xbox 360 users who have modded firmwares may want to steer clear of Xbox Live for a little while. It seems Microsoft is once again exercising its banhammer muscles with a good old-fashioned ban wave.
According to Xbox-Scene, several users of their forums and IRC channels have been banned from Xbox Live. Those who were banned were using Toshiba-Samsung and Hitachi-LG drives with either Xtreme and iXtreme firmwares.
As of the time their report was made, BenQ drives seem to have escaped the banhammer, though that may only be a matter of time. In any case, how do you know if you’re banned? It’s simple, really.
According to Xbox-Scene, If you have the ‘Z Code’ 8015-190D it means you are banned. This doesn’t ban your account, but only disables your specific console from accessing Xbox Live.

Microsoft has been vigorously inspecting Xbox 360 consoles sent in for repairs in Taiwan which has resulted in the usual turnaround time of seven days being extended to as long as one month since October, according to retail channels in Taiwan.

The sources commented that the tighter inspection was motivated by a need to see if game consoles have been illegally modified to use pirated games and a need to screen consoles which really need repair. However, consumers are increasingly becoming discontent with the tighter attitude towards after-sales repairs, the sources pointed out.

Here’s the latest Maximus Firmware Toolbox with support for Hitachi-LG 78/79 (and upper) variants. Essentially it’s Commodore4Eva’s iXtreme firmware ported to work with the DVD-ROM models mentioned in the previous sentence.
See ‘readme.txt’ for special notes on flashing Hitachi 79FK drives and additional release notes.
What is it?!
A graphical tool to handle several common dvd-drive firmware tasks. This is the better tool you will find.
You can copy-paste the keys from one firmware to another not matter if they are different vendor (samsung or hitachi) and not matter the version of the FW.
Allows SMART PATCH for rolling code firmwares (Hitachi 0078) and also Direct Flash on all drives, even the nasty 78 drives.
RAWDUMP does not work fine with SIL chipsets yet, be aware of use the validate checksum feature to avoid bad dumps and bricks. We will be working on SIL chipsets later.
The flasher/restore appears to be rock solid now, also very easy to understand, so this could be the base to flash future firmware releases, even on the 78
