Apparently Microsoft Xbox 360 Tech support division has many issues with users who have gotten their xbox 360’s broken due to, Grand Theft Auto IV (How about that 5 minute install time, is it worth it now MS?) Its kinda funny, that such a major company cannot fix xbox 360s or can’t get good costumer service reps to help its costumers, you’d think a company who has a revenue of US $51.12 billion dollars and 18.25 billion dollars in operating income would be able to hire people who can actually speak well enough English to be able to help its costumers instead of pissing them off. Enough said here are some user replies that caught my eye.

Now that Grand Theft Auto 4 (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3) has gone gold, Rockstar Games president Sam Houser was able to sit down and talk about the hurdles his company had to overcome. This time, he pointed out the Xbox 360’s storage capacity which isn’t a big leap from previous systems.

“They don’t have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems,” Houser told 1UP when talking about the 360. “It’s a slightly bigger DVD disc,” he added.

Meanwhile, having Xbox 360 consoles in the market with no hard drives also came up. Houser explained:

I think that the 360 is going to have to get ’round this issue we’re talking about. I can think of various ways they can do it. Hopefully, they’re going to adopt one of those in the next year or so, because it’s going to become more of an issue.

If we’re filling up the disc right now, where are we going? It’s not like our games are going to get any smaller. I think that issue’s on the table with a bunch of games right now. I’m sure they’ll come through with an intelligent solution.

On a positive note, Houser noted that the “360 is a very, very accessible, familiar, effective environment to work in.” There’s also no need to worry about storage limitations for now, since both versions of Grand Theft Auto 4 “pretty much look identical side by side.”

Houser admitted that developing for the PS3 was “challenging,” but Rockstar North managed to learn what’s necessary to create games for the powerful machine. “I don’t want to say we’ve cracked it, but we’ve got comfortable with it — we know we can make our games.”

A title update is now available for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2, fixing many of the issues reported by the community, including many gameplay tweaks based on gamers’ feedback. Here is the list of improvements and fixes included with this patch:

Improvements:

Weapon Switch
Swapping to & from Pistols are now faster in Multiplayer.

Sound Loops
Optimized sound bank to improve weapon firing and helicopter sound clips that loop over and over.

Pings
Servers now update their pings more often so that players have a more accurate value of server performance.

Team Leader Respawn Modification
Spawn Shield is shorter when respawning with the Leader.

XP Modifiers
When there are more people on a team than the other, there is an overall XP modifier applied to all XP gained during the game.

Outfitting
By pressing the start button, players now have access to the outfitting menu in observer mode.

Team Deathmatch Respawn Modification
Respawning in Team Deathmatch now work like regular Deathmatch (random points throughout the map) which intensifies gameplay and minimizes spawn camping/trapping.

Faster Respawns
Faster respawns for Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. You no longer have to wait a full 10 seconds!

Custom Search
Players who enter a room using custom search then exit will be brought back to an automatic search with the same criteria.

Fixes:

Rank Reset Glitch
Fixed. Players will be able to use their Xbox guide during the game loading without risk of losing their rank.

Private First Class - Achievement
If you are ranked Private First Class or above, you will automatically get the achievement after the title update is complete and you load your gamer profile.

Freedom Shall Prevail - Achievement
If you’ve passed all checkpoints on Story Mode on Realistic and finished the game, you will automatically get the achievement after the title update is complete and you load your gamer profile.

That Wasn’t So Hard - Ribbon
Your ribbon now unlocks when you get the achievement.

Light Machinegun Sound Glitch
When firing continuously with any light machinegun, the sound of the weapon will no longer get cut off.

Civilians & Hostages on Tactical Map
No longer are displayed as terrorists.

Shield Teleport Glitch
Players can no longer teleport when trying to take cover with a shield

Out of Map Glitch
Players can no longer cover-peek into each other to raise a team mate above their heads that allows them to walk into areas outside the designated map.

Friend Invite in Ranked Matches
Inviting friends in Ranked Matches now work correctly.

Custom Face
Previously, Custom faces were sometimes copied over to another player’s face. This is no longer the case. Custom faces will display the proper faces.

Radar Jammer
Radar Jammer now work for clients, not just hosts.

XP Farming
That one famous area in ACT 1 “Ambush” will no longer allow XP Farming.

Observer Mode
Players will no longer be stuck in the respawn screen at 0 seconds while in observer mode.

Weapon Restriction
The weapon restriction configuration is no longer kept in Terrorist Hunt, Story and Co-op Story.

Epic has mentioned that creating a demo for GOW 2 will take lots of their highly needed resources to finish the 2nd installment of the series and as creating a demo removes much more from design, QA, production (and more) from the main game’s development. They are, of course, correct, further nothing that the game’s two year production cycle would have made a demo even more difficult for Epic to pull off.

XBOX LIVE CHEATERS

Microsoft is getting tough with cheaters on Xbox Live who artificially boost their Gamerscore, saying they will publicly humiliate them and reset their account.Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, Live’s director of programming, says in his blog on Gamerscoreblog.com that Microsoft is now taking action against gamers who “tamper with their Gamerscore and Achievements”.

In Xbox 360 games, players can build up their Gamerscore and Achievements list by playing through games and completing objectives. Cheaters artificially boost their score by manipulating save files and account information. It doesn’t make them play any better, but gives them bigger bragging rights online.

Redmond (WA) - Microsoft today released a firmware upgrade for the Xbox 360, but it doesn’t actually make any noticeable changes to the system.  Instead, it makes the 360 ready for some new features that will come out in the near future.

With the Xbox 360, Microsoft has essentially made it a policy to release one big firmware update during each season.

Today’s update is an initial preparation for the pending “spring update.”

“This update contains code to ‘prepare for future growth of the service,’” wrote Xbox Live spokesperson Larry Hryb. “In other words no new features.”

The last Xbox 360 update was related directly to the console’s HD DVD add-on, and was released earlier this month.  It caught some by surprise because Microsoft officially disowned the add-on several weeks ago.

Regarding the spring update, Hryb wrote, “At this point we have nothing to announce.”

Next Monday, Microsoft will update its Xbox Originals catalog with two new titles: Metal Arms: Glitch in the System and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

In Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, players assume the role of Glitch, a gun-slinging, half-ton fearless robot of Droid City. Found as scrap metal, but transformed into destructive machinery, Glitch is determined to free his people from the evil clutches of General Corrosive and his maniacal army of Mil bots.
